MPS Clarifies Indoor/Outdoor Health & Safety Guidelines

Mustang Families,

As has been the functional practice this Spring, universal face coverings will remain optional for outdoor events (unless otherwise posted) for all in attendance/participating. Social distancing will still be required and seating capacity will remain limited to best allow for this practice.  We encourage all in attendance to have a mask available should a situation arise that would create a contact (within 6 ft for 15 or more cumulative minutes); and strongly encourage their use to prevent the spread of COVID-19. See below for details on MHS Graduation.

The Board made the decision last month to continue universal face coverings through the end of the school year in support of the Oklahoma State Health Department policy allowing student contact-tracing to be reduced to 3ft vs 6ft.  Removing masks would force a return to 6ft contact tracing and mean that we would be excluding more students from school unnecessarily.  As of May 21, 2021 (after the 2020-21 school year has ended for students) masks will become optional, although strongly encouraged, inside of MPS buildings/facilities.

No decision has been made regarding health/safety procedures for next year (2021-22) as of now.  While MPS is currently envisioning a mask-optional environment for next year, that decision will be made in conjunction with local/State health officials based upon local data over the Summer months.
