Special Education

Mustang Public Schools is committed to providing comprehensive educational services to all students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment. The district makes every effort to contact, evaluate and educate all children suspected of having a disability, ages 3 through 21, under the provisions established by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 1997 (IDEA). Mustang Public Schools also works with the SoonerStart Early Intervention Program in referrals for identification, evaluation and services for eligible infants and toddlers, from birth through two years of age.

Mustang Public Schools serves approximately 11,900 students, age 3 through 12th grade.  Approximately 1,700 of these students have disabilities that require special education and related services, with an additional 500 students being served with Section 504 student plans. The District has eight elementary schools, three intermediate schools serving fifth and sixth grades, three middle schools serving seventh and eighth grade, a high school serving ninth through twelfth grade, and an alternative high school.
