Sunset Hill Elementary Opens Its Doors With Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

Mustang Public Schools celebrated the grand opening of its newest campus, Sunset Hill Elementary, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and staff tour on Friday, August 1. The event welcomed employees, partners, and district leaders as they gathered to officially open the doors to the district’s ninth elementary school.

Superintendent Charles Bradley kicked off the ceremony by expressing his appreciation to the Mustang community for its continued investment in public education. “Sunset Hill Elementary is a reflection of our community’s values: a deep commitment to education, innovation, and student success,” said Bradley. “This building isn’t just bricks and mortar. It’s a space designed for learning, belonging, and excellence. We’re incredibly grateful to the voters of the #Momentum23 Bond for making this school a reality, to our our community partners, and the families who entrust us with their children each day.”

Sunset Hill Principal Jandra Honeman also addressed the crowd, sharing her excitement and pride in leading the new campus. “Opening Sunset Hill is a dream come true. Every square foot of this school was designed with students in mind. From our classroom learning environments to vibrant gathering spaces, this building represents what’s possible when a community comes together to support education,” Honeman said. “I cannot wait to welcome our Broncos into this beautiful space on the first day of school.”

Following the ceremony, attendees, including teachers, staff and some students, were invited to tour the new campus and explore classrooms and collaborative spaces designed to meet the needs of 21st-century learners. As a special treat, Cade Construction and MA+ Architects, key project partners, generously provided Wondervan pops for all in attendance.

Sunset Hill Elementary will serve students in grades PreK-4 and is part of the district’s ongoing plan to address rapid enrollment growth in Mustang and surrounding areas. The campus officially opens to students on the first day of classes for the District on Thursday, August 14, 2025.
