Mustang High School Fashion Students Stitch Together Creativity and Competition

Mustang High School’s Fashion Design students recently combined creativity, craftsmanship, and a bit of friendly competition in a unique classroom project. Each student designed and created their own quilt square, showcasing individual style and sewing skills developed throughout the course.

Fashion Design teacher Mrs. Pumford then brought the project full circle by carefully sewing the individual squares into completed quilts—one representing each class period. The finished quilts highlighted the creativity and hard work of every student involved, turning separate designs into collaborative works of art.

To add an exciting twist, students in each class voted on their favorite quilt square. The designer of the top-voted square earned the honor of taking home their class quilt.

The winners were:

  • 1st Hour: Dakota Flowers
  • 2nd Hour: Haylee Banks
  • 3rd Hour: Kaylan Gilliand
  • 4th Hour: Ella Humphrey
  • Fashion II: Khyra Lewis

The project not only allowed students to apply their technical skills but also encouraged creativity, teamwork, and pride in their work. Each quilt now stands as a lasting reminder of the students’ talent and the collaborative spirit within Mustang High School’s Fashion Design program.
