MHS Theatre & Debate Team experiences HUGE success!

MHS Theatre & Debate team competed at Edmond Memorial’s OSSAA Qualifying tournament this weekend. We had 34 students compete to qualify in 19 events.  Coaches Emily Farnham and Thomas Teague are unbelievably blown away by our students’ attitude and work ethic.

• Kolby Robertson (1st place, Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking)
• Keaton Flickinger (3rd place, Humorous Interpretation)
• Jaylen Terrell (3rd place, Lincoln Douglas Debate)
• Kolby Robertson (2nd place, Lincoln Douglas Debate; 2nd place, Top Speaker of the tournament)
• Jaylen Terrell (1st place, Original Oratory)
• Jaden Folsom Delmonico (2nd place, Original Oratory)
• Cash & Maizey Myers (1st place, Humorous Duet)

 

Additionally, 10 previously qualified students competed in Champs (previous winners from both 5A & 6A events compete against each other in preparation for Regionals; it’s like an “honors/championship” division), and also placed!

 And to top it all off, our team won two major awards:

• 1st place Sweepstakes (qualifying students)…think “Best Team” AND
• 3rd place Sweepstakes (CHAMPS)…also “Best Honors Division Team”
