MHS Teacher of the Year: Christian Kelley

Christian Kelley-MHS

Let’s start with a story.

A student opens the door to the classroom and hears something unusual.

Drums.

Not the kind from a lesson. The kind echoing down the hallway.

Confused, they look at their teacher. She’s confused too.

A few seconds later, the door opens wider. Flowers. Applause. The moment becomes real.

And just like that, Christian Kelley’s classroom turns into something else entirely.

For years, she wondered if she belonged in a school like this. Coming from a small town, teaching every science subject imaginable, sometimes all at once, she learned how to adapt, connect, and make learning stick.

Now, at Mustang High School, she’s doing what she set out to do from the very beginning.

Helping students fall in love with science.

Not just memorize it. Not just pass it. Understand it. Question it.

See the world differently because of it. Students feel that energy every day:

“She lights up the room every time she comes in… her class is always a good time, even when we have a ton of work to do.”

That’s the environment she’s built. One where learning is challenging, engaging, and yes, even fun.

Because in her classroom, science isn’t just content.

It’s a story worth telling.

We’re proud to celebrate Christian Kelley as one of Mustang High School’s 2025–2026 Teachers of the Year.
