The Academic All-State Award is one of the most prestigious student honors in Oklahoma, bestowed to only 100 outstanding public high school seniors annually in recognition of academic achievement, leadership, and community service. Each honoree will receive a $1,500 scholarship and be recognized at the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence Academic Awards Banquet on May 4, 2024, at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in Norman.

MHS Senior Carah Day was included in this year's list of 100 top high school students in the state.  An Academic All-State scholar is a student who has demonstrated academic excellence and who has excelled within his or her own particular learning environment.  In order to be eligible for this honor, a student must be a currently enrolled Oklahoma public high-school senior who meets any one of these criteria:

  • Composite ACT score of at least 30*

  • Combined SAT Evidence-Based Reading & Writing and Math score of at least 1370*

  • National Merit Scholarship Program semi-finalist

In addition to the minimum criteria, students were also evaluated on the basis of their leadership abilities, motivation, academic achievement, and character as maximized within each student’s learning environment.

The 2024 Academic All-State class is the 38th to be selected by the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence.  Since the award program’s inception in 1987, some 3,800 high school seniors from over 330 school districts have been named Academic All-State scholars.
