MCMS & MNMS Students Compete at State Civics Bee, One Advances to Nationals

Mustang Public Schools students Gabriella Cooper of Mustang Central Middle School, Jessica Mabray of Mustang Central Middle School, and John Paul Karpillo of Mustang North Middle School recently competed at the third annual 2026 National Civics Bee Oklahoma State Finals, where Jessica earned first place and advanced to the 2026 National Civics Bee National Championship in Washington, D.C., this fall. She will compete against state champions from across the country for a grand prize of a $100,000 contribution to an education savings plan.

This year's finalists represented communities across Oklahoma, including McAlester, Moore, Mustang, Oklahoma City, and Stillwater.

"One of the greatest responsibilities we have as educators is preparing students to become thoughtful, engaged citizens who understand they can make a difference. Jessica, Gabby, and John Paul have embraced that responsibility through their curiosity, critical thinking, and commitment to making a positive difference in their community,” said Charles Bradley, Superintendent, Mustang Public Schools. “We are incredibly proud of all three students, and we look forward to cheering Jessica on as she represents Oklahoma at the national championship in Washington, D.C."
