For years, the MPS tech department operated with three employees with help on desktop issues from the library/media directors at each site. With the increase in enrollment and personnel, soon technology issues were taking up a majority of the media directors' time. Today the district has a director, secretary, a network administrator, network specialist, 2 student device managers and seven support specialists.

The department is in charge of more than 1300 laptop and desktop staff computers, 10,000 Chromebooks, 2500 iPads, 500 SMARTboards, and more. They are an integral and vital part of day-to-day activities in the classroom also handling also handles over 1000 wireless access points, 56 servers, 9000 network ports, 1250 phone devices/voicemail accounts, more than 13,000 student and 1,250 staff accounts.  With the addition of federal grant opportunities, the MPS Tech Department also administers the Mpowered 1:1 Program.

The internet bandwidth has changed as well, MPS currently has an internet connection of 10 gb with about 60% of that pipe being used on a daily average and spiking to over 80% at times throughout the year.

The department also includes a Director of Student Information and student database specialist and 4 full time central enrollment specialists. They manage the student database system that includes grades, attendance, enrollment and more for Mustang Public Schools, which is growing by 500 students a year with enrollment topping 13,000 students in 2021-2022.

Pursuant to 74 O.S. § (2019) 3106.4(C), which requires all public bodies to disclose details regarding Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

• We collect PII as defined in HB2618 for the purposes of connecting educational based software platforms with student PII to enable the curriculum-based software usage for students and faculty.

• The PII collected is stored in a manner consistent with the State’s security policy and applicable regulatory requirements.

• PII data that is being  collected may be shared with educational software vendors used by MPS in order to connect students and faculty with curriculum-based software solutions
