Hello and welcome to 6th grade virtual academy! I will be your teacher for all subjects! I am super excited about this journey we will begin together!
I have lived in Oklahoma my whole life and I am proud to be an Okie! I grew up in Norman and relocated to Mustang 16 years ago. I fell in love with this community and school district as soon as I moved here. My educational career began in Norman where I worked as an teachers assistant with first grade and in the library. In 2008, I went back to school and earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. I started teaching 5th Grade at Trails Elementary in Mustang and then moved to Canyon Ridge Intermediate when it opened and taught 5th grade Math, Science and 5th/6th grade STEM. While teaching I have also earned two masters degrees: Library Media Specialist and Educational Administration from University of Central Oklahoma. I spent two years working as the Assistant Principal at Horizon Intermediate, but felt a calling to return back to the classroom to pursue my passion of teaching. I am currently working towards my Phd in Educational leadership from Oklahoma State University. My ultimate goal is to work with pre-service teachers. I love working with this level of students during these crucial transition years as they move from elementary to intermediate and to middle school. Teaching has always been at the center of my being and I am excited to be back in the classroom at Canyon Ridge.
I have three amazing children. Ashley and Hailey who are 22 and just graduated from UCO. Ashley will be heading to South Korea in November to teach English. Hailey will be working for the Naval Criminal Investigation Services as a cyber security intern - she and her husband Jake will be moving to California in January. My son Brandon, who is 20, is completing his cyber security program at Rose State College this year. They are all avid eSports competitors and compete on a national level.
I am excited about the school year and working with all of you to make this year successful for our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. We are all in this adventure together!
