About The Teacher

 

Major (Ret.) Stephen E. (Eric) Muehlberg serves as the Senior Army Instructor for the recently established Mustang High School Junior ROTC

program.  Previously he served as the Senior Army instructor for the Junior ROTC program at the Warren High School in Warren, Arkansas.

He retired from U.S. Army in September 1997 while assigned as the Deputy District Engineer of the Little Rock District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

 

His other assignments during his Army career include Chief, Installations Services Division, with the Headquarters Defense Logistics Agency – Europe,

Weisbaden, Germany.  Command Engineer, Defense Substance Region Europe, Zweibrucken, Germany;  Chief, Course development Branch, U.S. Army Engineer

School and Commander, B Company, 589th Engineer Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, MO;  Operations Officer, Facilities Engineer and Commander, Headquarters Company, U.S. Army Garrison, Fort Chaffee, AR;  Battalion Maintenance Officer, HHC Executive Officer and Platoon Leader, 299th Engineer Battalion, Fort Sill, OK;  Helicopter Maintenance Specialist, 356th Transportation Company (USAR), Norman, OK;  Soils Analyst/Materials Quality Specialist, 299th Engineer Battalion, Fort Sill, OK and 92nd Engineer Battalion, Fort Stewart, GA.

 

A native of Broken Arrow, OK., he graduated from Broken Arrow High School in May of 1974. After completing one semester at the University of Arkansas

Major Muehlberg enlisted in the U.S. Army in December 1974. 

 

Upon completion of his enlisted service, he returned to college earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Geology from Northeastern Oklahoma State

University in July 1980.  He simultaneously completed the Senior Army ROTC program where he was selected as an ROTC Distinguished Military Graduate and

commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, Corps of Engineers in July 1980.

 

He is a graduate of the Army’s Command and General Staff College.  Other military schools include; the Combined Arms Services Staff School, Engineer

Officer Advanced Course, Engineer Officer Basic Course and the Army Officer Maintenance Course.  Major Muehlberg has been awarded the Army Legion of

Merit, Army Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Services Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal with device, Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Ribbon.

 

Major Muehlberg holds teaching certificates from the States of Arkansas and Oklahoma.

 

He is an FAA certified Airframe and Power Plant technician and Private Pilot with over 2,000 hours as pilot-in-command.

 

His hobbies include flying and restoring antique aircraft, cycling, hiking, sailing and canoeing. 

 

He and his wife, Bonnie, have one daughter, Rebecka, 15, and reside in the Newcastle, OK area.
