 Q. Do Cadets have to wear a uniform?

 
A. Yes, but usually only once a week, or when taking part in special ceremonies. The rest of the time, normal clothing 
is fine.

 Q.  Are there any fees for uniforms, books, or special equipment?

 
A. The JROTC program supplies uniforms, books, and all equipment used in the course, free of charge.

 Q.  Is JROTC as hard as it sounds?

A. The course is demanding, but most of the students who make an effort really enjoy the challenge and thrive on the
   hard work and discipline.

 Q.  Who teaches JROTC?

A. Retired Army personnel with years of experience working with young people. Instructors are certified by the Army and
   the State in which they teach, but they are hired by, and work for, the school district.  Besides having state-of-the-
   art instruction techniques at their command, JROTC instructors serve as exceptional role models for maturing teenagers.

 Q.  Are there any age requirements for JROTC?

A. There's no firm age requirement, but students must be in a grade above the 8th grade to take JROTC.

 Q.  Can JROTC help students go to college?

 
A. We definitely can help.  JROTC training improves the ability to study, to take tests, to set goals and to focus.
   JROTC also gives students a leg up on earning college ROTC scholarships.

 Q.  How does JROTC impact a student's other classes?

 
A. By developing self-motivation, an ability to focus and a desire to excel. This all adds up to better grades.  
The curriculum takes students beyond normal classroom learning.  JROTC Students develop leadership, responsibility
and confidence from direct hands-on skills and values instruction.  Rising through JROTC ranks, students experience 
success first hand.  Goal setting, winning habits and problem solving become second nature.  It builds discipline,
confidence and belief that they can do whatever they set their minds to do.  The results can be dramatic.  In fact 
nationally, JROTC seniors graduate at a rate that's 20% higher than other seniors and 41% go on to attend college.

 Q.  Are students required to join the military?

 
A.  JROTC is not a recruiting program.  Nor do students have any obligation to enter the military in any way.  It simply
utilizes the military structure as a vehicle to develop and improve students' self-discipline, confidence and pride in
ways schools generally don't offer.
