General Class Information
Our school wide theme this year is “Mustang Valley. .
.Where Excellence Premieres”. I’m looking forward to welcoming all my new
“stars” to first grade. Together we will be helping your child begin a
rewarding and fun start to their education. This is the foundation for the
next twelve years. Let’s make sure we begin to turn them into lifelong
learners with a desire to be responsible and active in their own education!
Most importantly will be remembering to return Book
Packets daily with the Reading Log showing that you have read with your
child!

Sight
Words
I will be sending home a set of flash cards each nine weeks. There will be
25 words for your child to know quickly. These are words that are found frequently
in material your child will be reading this year and will help them with
their fluency and confidence in reading. Please take time to make sure your
child can read these words.

Math
Facts
Due to the new Math Curriculum we have
this year, this area is subject to change. Please check back for future
updates.
Match Facts are
learned in sets, such as +0 or +1’s. Flash cards will come home with your
child to practice with. Each set will be practiced for approximately one to
two weeks and a final test will be given. Each child will need to be able
to pass the final test in 3 minutes. This area is still under construction.
Please look for links to practice tests in the future.
