General Class Information
Together we will be helping your child begin a rewarding
and fun start to their education. This is the foundation for the next
twelve years. Let’s make sure we begin to turn them into lifelong learners
with a desire to be responsible and active in their own education!
Most importantly will be remembering to return Book
Packets daily with the Reading Log showing that you have read with your
child!

Class News
Everyone is doing a great job of getting the homework
done each night. It’s so important to begin that routine now of putting
school work first so that it becomes a habit. We are working hard at using
handwriting lines and pulling our pencils the correct direction. You can
help with this at home as your child practices their spelling words. Spelling words are getting harder!
Don’t forget to practice at home!! Sight Words can be copied and put on
index cards, then play matching games such as Memory with them. Please let
me know if there is anything I can do to help you.
Spring Break is almost here! March 15-19

come home almost every Monday. The first test is usually the second or
third week of school. We begin with 10 words, which then become review
words the following week. In other words, each week we will have ten new

I will be sending home a set of flash cards each nine weeks. There will be 25
words for your child to know quickly. These are words that are found
frequently in material your child will be reading this year and will help
them with their fluency and confidence in reading. Please take time to make
sure your child can read these words.

Math
Facts
Match Facts are learned in sets, such as +0 or +1’s. Flash cards will come
home with your child to practice with. Each set will be practiced for
approximately one to two weeks and a final test will be given. Each child
will need to be able to pass the final test in 3 minutes. This area is
still under construction. Please look for links to practice tests in the
future.
