Moss, TJ
--Best Actor Freshman, Sophomore, Senior Year; Drama Club President Senior Year; Seymour in "Little Shop of Horrors". TJ Moss began his quest for rock stardom in high school when he started a late-90's-post-grunge-alterna-pop cover band called Mauled.  Upon realization that Mauled just wasn't going places, he took a more "sensible" approach to a career path in college by majoring in Musical Theatre at Oklahoma City University.  Moss then moved to The Big Apple to pursue his stage career.  After a couple years of dealing with crazy actor types, he decided to get back to his roots and pursue his own music. Moss has come a long way since his first "paid" gig as a featured musician at the New York poetry open mic, "Culture Shock," in October of 2005.  Despite the crowd of misfit beatnik poets with their angry political rhetoric, he knew he was onto something when he had them singing "sha la la la la's" in spite of themselves.  That night TJ learned one valuable lesson: honesty in music and performance will capture any audience, regardless of age, race, faith, or "Williamsburg-ey unbathedness." From there, he began his climb, playing some of New York's most renowned venues: Arlene's Grocery, Sidewalk Caf, The Bitter End, The Cutting Room, Rockwood Music Hall, The Living Room, and many others. In May of 2008 TJ's music gained national attention when Broadway dancer, Cody Green of Bravo's Step It Up and Dance, choreographed his contest-winning performance to the song "It's Over".  Green went on to say "He's an incredible songwriter. The song is so beautiful and the story feels so fitting in the moment. I finally got a chance to choreograph and dance the way I love to dance."  Moss says of this huge break, "I couldn't be more grateful. Cody brought my music to ears I never could've on my own." Armed with the newly formed and ridiculously talented TJ Moss Band, he plans to begin recording his first full length studio album this fall.  With the guidance of critically acclaimed producer Mark Turrigiano (Ingrid Michaelson, "Girls and Boys"), Moss expects moms across the country to swoon over this highly anticipated musical endeavor.
