Welcome to Pre-AP English I Class |

Advanced Placement students move quickly through
material. Pre-AP students will read
nearly twice the amount of literature as English I students. Pre-AP students must read 800 pages outside
reading per semester.
To do well in this class, it helps to possess the
following qualities:

High reading comprehension

Self-motivation

Legible handwriting
·
Strong writing skills
·
A computer/printer (Many essays are required to be typed.)

(Two novels)

Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns

purchased for much less.

Also read another fiction novel of your choice (over
250 pages).
For the fall of 2008, students will read Cold Sassy
Tree and type a one-page description of any main character from the novel.
Then read a fiction novel of your choice and type a report for that novel using
the format below. The character
description from Cold Sassy Tree and the book report are to be typed
using 12 font, Times New Roman. Both are
due the first day of school. We will
be doing several assignments related to Cold Sassy Tree, so plan on bringing the book the first week of
school.
