Introduction

You are a volcanologist that has just been assigned the task of learning more about the different types of volcanoes and where they are located.  You will need to complete 5 of the following tasks in order to be promoted for the upcoming CEO job.  Good luck and see you at the top!

The Task

Choose 5 out of the 10 tasks to complete the requirements for your major promotion to CEO of Volcano Land Company.  Written work must be typed and when asked to write a paragraph or a description, it's expected to be written as discussed in English. 
 
 

• Task #1 - Take a virtual tour of the following sites.  Choose 1 site that you find interesting and write a paragraph describing WHERE the volcano is located, WHY you liked it, and CHARACTERISTICS about the volcano.  (minimum of 5 sentences)

• Task #5 - Build a caldera!  Click here and follow the directions on this page for building a caldera. You need Adobe Reader to read this file.  You can go to www.adobe.com to download a free coy Take a picture of your caldera and answer the conclusion questions at the bottom of the page for your report.

• Task #7 - Build a Model (for more information go to THIS site).  Bring your model to school on the due date OR take a picture of your model.  Your picture must include you with the model.

• Task # 8 - Would you want to be a volcanologist? List six reasons why you would or would not want a career in volcanology.   Be specific.  Don't just say that it "sounds dangerous."  Tell why you think it would be dangerous. Check out this site for more information on volcanologists.

•  Task #9- Create a Crossword Puzzle or WordSearch using terms that are related to Volcanoes (minimum of 15 words) You could even create an on-line puzzle at Discovery School!  Attach this link to your Project Poster OR print it out. Be sure to include your first and last name in your title.

Create a Project Poster and display your work here!  This is a web page that YOU create to display your work! You must use the code provided in the handout I gave you in class to access this site.
Other options include:  Create a PowerPoint, neatly displayed on regular poster board, bound in a 3-ring notebook, etc.).  DO NOT TURN IN LOOSE PAPERS!
