   Keyboarding I

Keyboarding I for 6th and 7th graders teaches the basic computer fundamentals and proper typing technique. Students also learn common computer terminology, participate in an Internet safety course, and complete a writing assignment in Microsoft Word. Once Keyboarding I has been successfully completed, student may further enhance their skills in Keyboarding II or Computer Applications (for 8th graders).

Keyboarding II

Keyboarding II for 7th and 8th graders is a 9-week course which allows students to build upon keyboarding skills acquired in Keyboarding I. Student will work on improving typing speed and accuracy, learn more about Microsoft Word and Internet safety, and receive an introduction to PowerPoint. (8th grade students with above average computer skills should elect Computer Applications instead of Keyboarding II.)

<>        Computer Applications for 8th graders is a 9-week course for proficient typists that familiarizes students with commonly used computer applications. Each student will create a portfolio containing assignments in Microsoft Word and Excel. Next, students will receive an introduction to multimedia software by creating slide presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint and Windows Movie Maker.  (Keyboarding I is the only prerequisite to this course; however, students needing to improve typing skills should complete Keyboarding II before enrolling in Computer Applications.)
