| Originally
a graduate of Mustang High School, I am now excited to teach in the same
district. In H.S., I had several leads and roles in school
musicals, including "West Side Story," "Bye, Bye, Birdie," and "The King
and I." I attended Oklahoma State University on an academic scholarship
for four years, majoring in journalism. I graduated from the University
of Central Oklahoma in Edmond in elementary education. I am currently
attending grad school at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, studying for my
Masters in Administration. I taught at Mustang North Middle School for eight (8) years and was School Webmaster. I was chosen MNMS Teacher of the Year for 2001/2002 and OEA's Technology Teacher of the Year for the state of Oklahoma in February of 2006. I currently teach at Mustang Middle School and was chosen Mustang Middle School's Teacher of the Year 2007/2008. I was also selected as Mustang's District Teacher of the Year March of 2008. I am so blessed and fortunate to be able to work with children and to be able to work with the wonderful parents, teachers, and administrators in our district. Because of my background, I strive to integrate music, kinesthetic activities, journalism, technology, and real world learning into the classroom. As a sixth grade language arts teacher, it is easy to integrate other subject matter into the curriculum while studying grammar and writing. We research many exciting topics throughout the year. I love project-based learning and feel that it brings learning to life for my students. I strive to build self-confidence in students, create risk-takers, and we have a lot of fun along the way. I probably have more fun than my students! |
Podcasts & MP-3 Projects - Click here.
A podcast provides students
with the opportunity to publish their writing in new, engaging ways.
Students research various topics, write news reports, and then work
cooperatively to publish a newscast.
These podcasts or MP-3 files can be downloaded to iPods or listened to straight
from my website.
Students have a lot of fun and are always surprising as their writing comes alive.

I built and maintained the Mustang North Middle School Web
page for 8 years.

| A web page, along with providing invaluable resources and communication between students, parents, and educators, clarifies classroom and project expectations allowing for added guided practice and enrichment opportunities. I've been surprised how much students and parents use and appreciate our school and classroom pages. I post weekly homework assignments, project information, and relevant links there. It has proved to be an invaluable communication tool. |
