Tips
& Tricks for Success:
1. Parents should periodically check students' notebooks -
Help students file graded papers in
2. Check student's agenda and homework listed on-line - Help students keep up with
due dates. Students should write their assignments
for each class in their agendas on a daily basis for their own benefit.
Usually daily assignments aren't due until
the next day so parents may want to require
students to bring home their notebooks
each night to verify students finished their
assignments in class. (Homework is
only the work the student did not finish during
class time & most assignments are due the
following day. Projects and spelling are the exceptions.) 3.
Check up on your child's grades! Check the back of students' agendas
from time to time
for periodic averages in most classes.
Plus, sign up on our district site for Parent Connect!
http://www.mustangps.org You can see students grades
and averages on line!
4. Email or send a note to your child's teachers a week following your
child's absence
to see if your child has turned in all absent work.
5. Sign up to receive our team news email. Project deadlines and
important info will be emailed to you.

Mrs.
Blackwell’s Discipline Plan:
Everyone makes mistakes
from time to time. I always understand that, and I'll always care about
each student, no matter what mistakes are made. I am strict about not
hurting other students' feelings, and I expect you to treat everyone like you
want to be treated. A summary of consequences follow:
|
Consequences for Misbehavior: |
Verbal Warnings
-
I will usually
warn you twice verbally each day.
Sign "The Book"
-
When I have to
warn the 3rd time in the same day, you will sign
"The Book"
in our
classroom.
Lunch Detention -
When your name
appears a twice within a 2 weed period, you will be assigned a
lunch detention.
NOTE: Sometimes a whole-class warning or a direct "look" and shake of my
head may count as one of your warnings. Always be thoughtful and respectful. |
|
After- School
Detentions -
If your
behavior isn't changing after serving 2 lunch detentions within a 2 week
period, I will contact a parent and assign an
after-school detention.
*NOTE: In the case of a more serious behavior problem, I
may immediately assign detention.
EX: rudeness, violence, cheating, dishonesty
Upon the 2nd detention assigned for my class, I will discuss the behavior
with the parent by phone or conference. |
|
Parent Contact -
(Notes
or Calls home) If you receive 2 lunch detentions for behavior in my
classroom within a 2 week period, I'll call
or send a note home to
your parents, letting them know that you need to improve your behavior to
avoid an detention.
*If the signed note
(or a parent may email or call me)
is not returned the
following day, you will do a lunch detention. |
|
Occasionally:
"My English Classroom" Lunch Detention
-
(Students
remain in my classroom during the 1st 10 min. of their lunch); I assign
this if students have hurt someone's feelings, been disrespectful, if they
haven't returned a parent behavior note to me, or for various
minor misbehaviors or not working in my class. |
|
"My English Classroom"
Study Hall
Lunch -
If a student is getting too far
behind on a large assignment or multiple assignments, I will sometimes have
students eat their lunch in my classroom and catch up on their work. If they
do not work during this time, I will assign an after-school detention for
wasting their time. |
|
Office Referral -
A.
for severe or recurring disrespect or
misbehavior
B. After being assigned 2 after-school detentions in my class during a
9 week period, you will be referred to the office for discussion with the
principal and a 3rd detention, ISI, or alternate consequences. |
