Mustang Public Schools’ Substitute Training Workshops for the remainder of the 2007-2008 school year have been scheduled to instruct substitutes for certified and support positions in our district. The District will no longer be handing out substitute packets at the Administration Building.
The workshops will be held at the Mustang Administration Building, 906 South Heights Drive, Mustang, beginning promptly at 10 a.m. The dates are as follows:
- January 22
- February 19
- March 25
- April 22
To attend one of the workshops, call the Mustang Administration Building at 376-2461 and pre-enroll with the receptionist. Only the first 25 applicants will be accepted for each workshop.
Substitute training is required yearly prior to substituting in our district. All substitutes are to stay the entire training period, which is usually one hour. Mustang uses an Internet-based program that uses a combination of the Internet and the telephone to schedule substitutes.
The qualifications to be a substitute for the Mustang Public School District are that the substitute be 21 years of age or a junior in college with an Education Major.
In order to complete the necessary paperwork for employment, all substitutes are to bring a copy of his/her driver’s license and social security card or birth certificate to the training. Another copy of the substitute’s social security card and a new W-4 are required for payroll purposes. Copies WILL NOT be made by the school district.
If a substitute has a degree, a lapsed teaching certificate or out of state teaching certificate, he/she must bring a copy of his/her transcript showing the degree or a copy of the teaching certificate for the contract. If the substitute has a current Oklahoma certification, he/she must bring a copy of his/her official teaching certificate for the contract.
Anyone interested in substitute teaching in Mustang Schools is encouraged to attend the training session. |
