Dear Parents,

This is Kathy Blackwell, principal of Canyon Ridge Intermediate School.  School is just around the corner!  Mr. Meiwes, our assistant principal, counselors, teachers and I have been hard at work preparing for our upcoming 5th grade Orientation Camp ( Camp Canyon) & our 6th gr. Schedule Pick Up, which will be Saturday, Aug. 11th . 5th grade begins promptly at 9am & both parents & students will stay until approximately10:30.  The 6th grade Schedule Pick-Up is come & go 12:00-1:30pm.  There will be a New 6th grade student & parent meeting at 1pm in media center.

5TH GRADE SCHEDULE PICK UP:  All 5th graders & parents should arrive on Sat., Aug. 11th, just before 9am at Canyon Ridge Intermediate. Doors will open at 8:45.  At 9am, parents will attend the PARENT MEETING in the gym, while KIDS attend a free fun-filled orientation camp kicking off in the cafeteria.  The camp is designed to help students learn the building, meet teachers and make new friends.  During the parent meeting - also beginning at 9am , parents will learn about academics, events, and procedures such as traffic, car-rider drop off/pick up, bus #'s and more. 

Parents should bring your ID & proof of residence, pick up car-tags, your child's class schedule, put money in your child's lunch account, purchase a required school agenda for $5, look up bus info,  and have the opportunity to join PTSO, & shop for school t-shirts. 

While parents take care of the business portion of the event in the gym, your new 5th grader will be enjoying Camp Canyon!  Your child will be welcomed by 6th grade students, given tours, enjoy games, a snack, learn the building, meet teachers & begin making new friends.  It all begins at 9am sharp on Sat. the 11th.  The meeting & camp will end at 10:30, at which time you and your child will find your child's classes & walk his/her schedule.  So mark your calendars for Saturday, August 11th, @ 9am for 5th grade Camp Canyon & Schedule Pick-up!  

6TH GRADE SCHEDULE PICK UP will begin the same day, Sat., Aug. 11th, but will be a COME & GO event instead -  Drop in between 12pm - 1:30pm.  Parents, please bring proof of residence & ID. You will be able to pick up car-rider tags, purchase required agendas for $5, put money in your child's lunch account, join PTSO and purchase a school t-shirt.  You may then walk your child's schedule with them.  This 6th grade Schedule Pick-Up event is Come & Go between noon and 1:30If your child is a new 6th grader, new to Canyon Ridge, we will have a NEW 6TH GRADE STUDENT/PARENT MEETING in the Media Center @ 1:00pm during the last 30 minutes of Schedule Pick-up which both you and your child may attend.  So after you have taken care of business in the gym, picked up the schedule and walked the building, join us in the Media Center at 1pm for introductions and info.  We are looking forward to meeting you!

Most of our communication will be through website & email.  So make sure we have your email on file.  We will post traffic drop off/pick up informational maps, supply lists, and other info on our websiteshortly so please check it often. Our school office opens Aug. 8th.  Due to the construction of the turnpike, traffic will continue to be a challenge.  We thank you for your support and understanding. We will do our best to communicate changes as they occur.

Those who are unable to attend Schedule Pick-Up on August 11th may bring proof of residence & ID's to CRI office on August 13th, 14th, or 15th to pick up your child's schedule.  Although you will NOT be able to walk the building the week of the 13th due to last minute custodial and maintenance projects as well as teacher/staff meetings, we promise on the first day of school to ensure your child is welcomed, given tours and is well-taken care of so he/she will not be worried & will have a great first day. Schedules are not available prior to Aug. 11th Students will need to bring their class schedules with them on the first day of school.

School begins Thursday, Aug. 16th.   The first bell is 8:00am.  We dismiss at 3:05pm.
