Public invited to candidate forum for House Seats 43, 47

Mustang Public Schools would like to invite the public to two education forums featuring candidates for House Seat 43 and House Seat 47, previously held by John Paul Jordan and Leslie Osborn, respectively. The forum will be strictly education based.

The forum for House Seat 43 starts at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 15, at the Mustang High School Event Center. The forum for House Seat 47 will be held one week later on Tuesday, May 22, at 6:30 p.m., also at the Mustang High School Event Center. As of May 7, 11 of the 13 candidates have accepted the invitation to appear at the forums.

Superintendent Dr. Sean McDaniel said the forums are not an opportunity to campaign or to show support for or against a candidate. They are, however, an opportunity to hear from each candidate first-hand.

“As we have seen over the past several years, it matters greatly who our legislators are representing us at the Capitol,” he said. “This is an opportunity to show up in full force as a group of interested educators and community members so that we can listen to their responses and apply a high level of accountability.”

To reach the MHS Event Center, take Mustang Road south from Highway 152. Turn right (west) on West Forster Drive. Go through the gates of Mustang High School. The event center and parking will be on the left. The meeting room is upstairs. An elevator is available.

“This is a critical time for the future of our students,” McDaniel said. “The forums will be moderated and approximately 90 minutes in length. The candidates will receive the questions in advance. The primary election for these seats will be June 26. This is the perfect opportunity to meet and get to know the candidates before it’s time to cast your
