Mustang Bus Driver Honored As Bus Driver of the Year

(Mustang, Oklahoma – May 13, 2019) – Mustang Public School (MPS) bus driver, Melinda “Mel” Terrell will be honored by the Oklahoma Association for Pupil Transportation (OAPT) as Bus Driver of the Year at their annual conference banquet on June 10, 2019.

Serving over 500 school districts in Oklahoma, OAPT is set to hold its 44th annual conference this Summer where they will honor one bus mechanic and one bus driver for their dedication and service. This year, the Association has selected Melinda “Mel” Terrell from Mustang Public Schools as their Bus Driver of the Year. Mrs. Terrell has served as an MPS driver for three years, and was nominated by her colleague and Assistant Director of Transportation, Donnie Ryan. 

“Mel is always willing to step in and help wherever there is a need,” said Ryan. “She continually shows great care and compassion to the students on her bus. She is well respected by fellow drivers, has served on several District committees, and always has valuable advice.” In sum, “she is an asset to our department.”
