Renner named Director of Human Resources
Mustang Public Schools has hired Dana Renner to take on the position of Director of Human Resources, overseeing a staff of four that serves a district of nearly 1,200 employees.
Renner has a long history in education, most recently as the principal of Central Middle School in Edmond from 2013-2015, where she was named Oklahoma State Middle School Principal of the Year. Renner also was a key component in the educational turnaround at US Grant High School in Oklahoma City where the school achieved notable gains in all content areas, including a 300 percent increase in Algebra I scores. Under her guidance, the school implemented a Professional Learning Community (PLC) process.
Under her leadership, Central Middle School and US Grant High School were named the only two National Model Schools for PLC practices in Oklahoma. A PLC is a group of educators who meet to share expertise, teaching skills and improve the academic performance of students.
As the Director of Human Resources, Renner hopes to use those skills to help shape the vision for academic success at Mustang Public Schools. In her new position, she can have integral role in school improvement.
"Recruiting and retaining Oklahoma's best teacher candidates is top priority to maintaining Mustang Public Schools' direction for excellence," she said. "I am committed to serving the students, families, and community members in this way. I am honored to be a part of the Mustang team."
Renner has a bachelor's of science in secondary education from Oklahoma State University and a master's in education school administration from the University of Central Oklahoma. She's also in the doctoral program in school administration through OSU.
