Mustang Public Schools
Thank you for your interest in being a substitute teacher at Mustang Public Schools. All substitutes are required to be at least 21 years of age, or an education major in your junior year. All subs are required to attend a scheduled substitute workshop, submit the required background check, and complete all required paperwork before being allowed to substitute in our District.
Mustang Public Schools has scheduled several workshops throughout the school year to train substitutes. The July workshop is held in the high school commons area, while all other workshops are held in room J 112 at Mustang High School, located at 801 S. Snyder Drive, Mustang, OK 73064. Requirements for Substitute Training
Ø Two forms of ID
o One document to establish identity (Driver’s License, Military ID, School ID, Passport)
o One document to establish employment eligibility (Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Passport)
Ø 4-year college transcript:
o To be eligible to work 100 school days (if applicable); otherwise you are only eligible to work 90 days.
Ø Current Oklahoma Teaching Certificate (if applicable)
o You will need to have a copy of your current teaching certificate on file to earn the certified substitute pay rate
Ø Completed National Criminal Background Check: Download and Print the form here: OSBI Background Form and take it with you to the Oklahoma State Department of Education located in the Oliver Hodge Building at 2500 North Lincoln Boulevard, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73105. There is a $59.00 charge which you are required to pay in order to complete the background check process. If you substituted for Mustang during the previous school year, your current background check will apply to the next school year. If you have had a background check completed through the Oklahoma State Department of Education within the last 12 months and you can provide a copy to us, we will accept that as well (at the discretion of the Director of Human Resources).
o PLEASE ALLOW UP TO TWO WEEKS FOR YOUR BACKGROUND CHECK TO BE RETURNED TO MUSTANG PUBLIC SCHOOLS FROM THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. THIS MUST BE DONE BEFORE YOU CAN BEGIN WORKING FOR OUR DISTRICT. PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY.
How to apply
Application completed online: Substitute application can be found on our Job Postings-Apply Online link found when you click on the Human Resources tab.
You will be activated as a sub when:
ü You have attended a sub training
ü You have completed the online application
ü You have completed your National Criminal Background Check and MPS has received the results.
ü You have completed all of your new employee substitute paperwork that will be sent to you via EMAIL. This is an electronic process and all paperwork will be completed online.
