Mustang Public Schools science instruction is aligned with Oklahoma State Department of Education’s, Oklahoma Academic Standards for Science (OASS).
The science curriculum at each grade level is focused on integrating the three dimensions of science instruction: science and engineering practices, disciplinary core ideas, and the cross cutting concepts of science. The progression of teaching the new standards and skills have been arranged so that one component complements the other with each being equally taught and interwoven throughout the year.
State testing in science occurs in the 5th and 8th grades in the form of an Oklahoma Core Curriculum Test (OCCT) and in high school Biology I with an End-of-Instruction (EOI) exam.
On the national level, students can take the science assessments for the ACT, Advanced Placement courses and many others.
