Meet Ms. Van Horn

"Some kids are smarter than you.
Some kids have cooler clothes than you.
Some kids are better at sports than you.
IT DOESN'T MATTER.
You have your thing too.
Be the kid who can GET ALONG.
Be the kid who is generous
Be the kid who is happy for other people.
Be the kid who does the RIGHT THING
Be the nice kid."

Hey, Broncos! My name is Millie Van Horn and I am the Counselor for all 6th grade students. I received my Bachelor's degree in Human Development & Family Sciences from Oklahoma State University (GO POKES!). I couldn't bring myself to leave Stillwater just yet, so I remained at OSU for my graduate program, where I earned a Master of Science in Counseling.

When I am not at work or collecting hours towards Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) licensure, I enjoy spending time with friends and family; especially when cheering for the Cowboys on gameday! I am a firm believer in "no coffee, no workee." It didn't take me long to discover Mustang's best kept secret, Wild Hero! I also enjoy traveling; this summer I visited Cabo San Lucas, Galveston, and spent 5 weeks in Zambia, where I completed a counseling internship with the Tree of Life Children's Village.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me for any additional support you or your child may need!

Announcements

We are able to move our guidance lessons, individual, and small group counseling into a classroom this year! That being said, we are in need of a few things to create an inviting space for our students. You will find examples of flexible seating options, art supplies, self regulation gadgets, and therapeutic games and activities on our wish list. If you are able, please consider donating to this space so that we can continue to meet the different social and emotional needs of our students at Horizon.
