Welcome to Second Grade
School is cancelled until April 6th. The most important thing during this time is to spend time with family, social distancing, stay healthy, and read! :) Reading is one of the best things you can do at home during this time off to support your students learning. Have conversations about stories, ask questions, etc. This includes reading to your student, your student reading to you, or listening to stories online. During this time of uncertainty, know that I will update you when I receive new information. I will be sharing some resources on here that will help students continue their learning at home in a fun way. Know that these are not a requirement, and are not meant to be stressful. I will not require any participation or proof that they are being used. These resources are optional.
Lunch: While school is closed, MPS will be providing breakfast and lunch to our students. These will be available from 11 am-1 pm at the following locations during the week: Trails Elementary, Mustang North Middle School, Prairie View Elementary, Valley Elementary, Horizon Intermediate, Mustang Elementary, and Central Middle School. Follow the signs posted at the location and stay in your cars.
For those of you who do best with a schedule, here is an example of a home learning schedule that might work for you.
Here is our at home learning Bingo challenge!
I am excited be at Lakehoma this year. Our year will be filled with a lot of learning, laughter, and growing. My promise to each one of my students is to push them to their highest potential. I want them to feel challenged, and to feel supported in their learning, while having fun. I will always work hard to create an environment that my students feel loved and safe in. My ultimate goal is to make school a place that they want to be! :)
This will be my fourth year of teaching! I have taught kindergarten and first grade. This is my first year to teach second. I received my bachelors in Early Childhood Education from the University of Oklahoma (BOOMER SOONER!) I have been married to my amazing husband for almost 2 years. We have a sweet long hair dachshund that we love so much! We just bought our first home and are planting some roots in Yukon, OK. When I am not in the classroom, you can find me hanging out with family.
