About Me

Hi, I am Lesha Taylor, the counselor at Mustang Valley Elementary. This is my ninth year at MVE. Previously I was a counselor at two other Mustang schools and also a second grade teacher for 17 years.

I am married to my high school sweetheart, Brett, and we have two amazing daughters, Jacy (and her husband, Andy) and Baylee.  Our nephew Zak and his precious little boy, Boston, live with us as well.  We have four dogs: Chloe, Bella, Duke and Callie.

Counseling Classes

I get the privilege of going into classrooms to do lessons with the students approximately once a month. Some of the topics that will be covered are:

  • Kindness / Treating others with Respect
  • Friendship
  • Bullying Prevention
  • Character Traits
  • Truth / Lie
  • Tattling
  • Peer Pressure
  • Decision Making
  • Problem Solving / Conflict Resolution

Small Groups

I also  work with students in small groups. The students in these groups have one or more social type skills that they need extra practice with. Some of the groups I facilitate are:

  • Friendship
  • Anger Management
  • Impulse Control
  • Bullying
  • Behavior

I take referrals from principals, teachers, and parents for students that would benefit from a small group.

Minute Meetings

I get to meet individually with each student 2 times a year. Minute Meetings are a quick way that I can check in with each student to make sure they are:

  • Feeling safe at school/home
  • Not being bullied
  • Doing ok in class and with their teacher
  • Doing ok with friendships

I feel that these short meetings help me form a positive relationship with students so that they feel comfortable coming to me for help or support.
