About Me

Hey y'all!
My name is Lauren Hunt and this is my 6th year teaching English/Language Arts. I am looking forward to a great year at Central! Go Broncos!
I am from Grapevine, Texas where my parents still live. I have two younger siblings, a sister who works in the fashion industry in NYC, and a brother who is currently attending Oklahoma State University and studying business. My husband and I moved here in February of 2018 with our son, Noah, who is a little over one. My husband is a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force and is currently stationed at Tinker AFB. We also have a golden retriever named Rambo, our first child, and he is our wild fur baby. I love reading, sloths, the color orange, owls, dogs, and Oklahoma State University (GO POKES!) I have traveled to 10 different countries throughout Europe, Asia, and Central/South America and hope to continue traveling throughout my life.
I attended Oklahoma State University (Go Pokes!) for my undergraduate degree and studied Secondary Education English and received my initial certification for 5-12 ELA. I was then accepted into Teach for America and placed in rural South Carolina. During this time, I completed my masters degree at Francis Marion University where I received my M.Ed. in Instruction.
I have taught in a few different states and countries due to my husband's service as a member of The United States Air Force. I started my career in rural South Carolina where I taught 7th and 8th grade ELA for a few years, before a brief move to Charleston where I taught 9th grade English and reading intervention. We then moved to South Korea where I taught English speaking Korean students ages 5-16 in a private after school academy in Seoul. When we returned stateside, I taught 7th grade ELA at Heartland Middle School in Edmond for a year before having my first child in May of 2018. I stepped away from the classroom for the 2018-2019 school year to care for my newborn son who was born with a medical condition of the skull that required intensive surgical correction. He is now thriving and living a completely normal life with no limits! I am thankful for having had the time to care for my son, but I am thrilled to return to the classroom!
