Hi, I’m Dr. Kuczynski, but you can call me “Dr. K.” if you like. This is my third-year teaching at Mustang and I am looking forward to what is going to be a wonderful year together.
I teach in the Mustang Virtual Academy (MVA) as well as English Language Arts 9th-12th grade. In addition, I am a Special Education teacher and Case Manager for a number of great Mustang High School students.
As a class we will learn, grow and have fun in the process. This year, we will be exploring many great works in literature and its many forms including novels, short stories and poems. In addition, we will spend some time working on vocabulary, grammar and literary terms. Throughout the year you will also have an opportunity to continue developing your essay writing and test taking skills. Again, I am looking forward to this coming year and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us.
I am married to Judy, my fantastic wife of 46 years. Judy (Mrs. K.) who also teaches at MHS and directs the Mustang Virtual Academy. We moved to Oklahoma seven years ago from Minneapolis, Minnesota and live in Edmond. We have two married children and four terrific grandchildren; two boys and two girls. Our family also includes our pet Australian Shepard, Mya. A very sweet and smart shelter dog that we rescued two years ago.
I have a PhD in Education, an MA in Curriculum and Instruction and a BS degree in Technical/Biomedical Communication. I am certified in both English Language Arts and Special Education. I was born in Detroit, Michigan and a Viet Nam veteran who honorably served in both the United States Air Force and United States Army. I am an aviation history buff and aviator. I enjoy all things related to flying, especially military War Birds. I play jazz guitar and have been involved with music since my high school days, which included playing in several garage bands and later two, twenty-five member Big Band Jazz orchestras.
Learning can be both interesting and fun. I expect you to come to my class ready to learn every day and I will make it my job to see that you do. Don’t be afraid to ask questions; because that’s how we all learn. Most importantly, I expect you to follow my class rules and to be respectful at all times. This includes during class and especially to your fellow classmates. I will talk about this in class and in the class syllabus. Together, let’s learn, discover and explore to make this class the BEST year ever!
