Syllabus Spanish I

Spanish I Department Syllabus

Spanish I is designed to introduce students to the Spanish language and to Spanish speaking cultures by listening, reading, writing and speaking on a basic level.  The curriculum includes interesting topics, authentic culture and real-live communication that motivates students to master Spanish.
      Students will:
            *communicate in Spanish
*gain knowledge and understanding of other cultures
            *connect with other disciplines
develop insight into the nature of language and cultures by making comparisons
Spanish I is an intense interactive environment where students are expected to communicate and participate on a daily basis.  Learning a new language is fun, but it requires a lot fo work and a commitment to succed.
All Spanish I classes will follow the grading scale established by the Mustang Public School district.  Ours is based on a total point system.  Generally speaking, tests, quizzes and projects are worth approximately 50% of your grade.  The rest is determined by daily class work, homework and class participation.
Based on the learning objective, bonus points will be offered throughout the year at the teacher's discretion.
Regarding discipline, dress code, tardies and all other student issues, the Spanish I classes will follow the Policies and Procedures established by the Mustang High School student handbook.
