FIRST Robotics

FIRST Robotics

Mustang High School has 6 competitive FIRST robotics teams.

Five teams of 8-10 students each participate in FIRST Technical Challenge (FTC) and 1 team of 15-20 students in FIRST Robotics Contest (FRC). We are sponsored by Xerox, Boeing, Leidos, and Tetra Tech.

MHS FIRST robotics is a student driven class and after school activity. Students work with professional engineers to create real-word collaborative engineering teams. Those teams not only design, program, and build robots, but are also responsible for creating and maintaining a business and marketing plan to sustain their teams for years to come, even beyond their graduation.

Our teams consistently perform well at contest. We won a national programming contest and one of our students received a national award for his contributions to STEM learning. The students have been part of establishing and mentoring robotics teams at Yukon High School, at Canyon Ridge, and at Mustang North and South Middle Schools. Their goal is to make developmentally appropriate FiRST robotics programs available to every student attending public school in Oklahoma.

Toward this end we began a UNIFIED robotics program at MHS. This program brings robotics and STEM to our students with special needs.
