I graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Arts in Education with an emphasis in English Education. This is my third year here at Mustang North Middle School. I am very close to my parents and my three brothers. I value my time with my family, immediate and extended. I have a French Bulldog named Watson whom I absolutely adore. I enjoy traveling and being active, but I also crave down time to read and watch movies. I believe teaching is my passion as I feel overwhelming joy when connecting with my students and helping them to grow. I am looking forward to working with you and your child as we travel through the English language and literature!

A Little About ELA1

Over the course of this year, we will not only be learning the mechanical aspects of the English language, but we will also be reading and analyzing many different works of literature. Our curriculum aligns with the Oklahoma Academic Standards, or OAS. All OAS standards can be found on the OK Department of Education website.

Class time will be given for most, if not all, of assignments in order to keep homework to an absolute minimum. All reading will be done in class, unless excessive absences inhibit a student from catching up in a reasonable amount of time. Along with lecture and traditional individual assignments, group work, hands-on projects, and integrated technology will be introduced and featured throughout the year. This allows for all different types of learners to thrive in the classroom. I am very passionate about creating a comfortable, student centered classroom with an overwhelming amount of respect for all persons.

It is not only my duty as your child’s teacher to prepare them for their future academic endeavors, but also to equip them with the knowledge and life skills they need for success in their everyday life. However, I do believe that parent and family involvement is a vital part of student success. I strongly encourage parents and family members to stay informed in their student’s academic and personal life. All information and grades can be accessed through Parent Portal. You may access some assignments and get more of a feel of the classroom by visiting your student's Google Classroom.

I am more than happy to communicate with you about your child’s behavior and success, as well as any questions, comments, or concerns you have about our classroom and/or curriculum. The best way to reach me is through email, lankfordb@mustangps.org. You can also send me a text through “Remind.” You can contact me at any time during the work week. My plan period is from 12:40-1:27, which is the best time to reach me. I will be available for meetings by appointment. I will respond to you as soon as possible with your preferred method of communication.
