 October News

There is a lot of fun in store for October!  Our monthly themes will include nocturnal animals, fall, pumpkins, and Halloween. Soon, our apple orchard will grow to include a pretend pumpkin patch. This month some skills we will be working on are: beginning sounds, action verbs in present tense, identifying the words in a sentence, blending onset and rime, segmenting onset and rime, sensory words, counting forward from any given number(with or without objects), composing and decomposing numbers with objects, learning about 2D and 3D shapes, and exploring the concept of more than, less than, and equal to. Keep working with your students on counting to 100, their letters and sounds, sight words, and don’t forget to read with your child!

Please remember to sign up for a time slot for Parent-Teacher Conferences by Thursday October 3rd. I look forward to meeting with you!

Welcome to Kindergarten - We Are Better Together

Riverwood Elementary 2019-2020 Theme: Better Together

Welcome to kindergarten! I’m Ms. Andi Martini. I am so happy to have your student in my class. A little about me… I grew up in Norman, Oklahoma and I have spent most of my life there, even graduating from the University of Oklahoma (Boomer)! After that I spent three years immersing myself in early childhood education. I taught preschool for two years in Norman, and last year I joined Riverwood for their very first year as a pre-k teaching assistant. I love the Mustang community and I am very excited to have so many familiar faces in my classroom.
I believe that forming strong bonds with my students is essential to their success in school. Another essential factor is parent-teacher communication. Please feel free to contact me with any concerns, questions, or comments you may have. I look forward to a wonderful school year with your little one!
